For anyone interested, today from 10:30am until 11:15am, I will be running people through muscle-up training, strength and technique development drills. We will not be actually doing muscle-ups, but performing transition drills, technique work, and building the musculature for muscle ups. This is available to any CFHSV member and does not count as a class. If you are close or want to get there or even if you have them this could prove beneficial.

Had my most frustrating experience yesterday in my 2 and 1/2 years at Crossfit Huntsville. Couldn't get muscle-ups to save my life (not that mine are any good anyway). Had to scale hang power-cleans and overall just sucked. I was in over my head. However, even though I was just staring at those damn rings for about 15 minutes, pissed and disgusted, my fellow Crossfitters cheered me on until 5:15 started and I'd had enough. I appreciate it more than y'all know. Crossfit has changed my life both physically and mentally. I have made friendships here that I never would have made otherwise. I really am amazed that no matter the skill-level, body type, VO2 max or whatever; everyone puts in their all and should be proud of their work. It really pays off. To all the coaches, athletes, and owners...thanks! See you all a week from Wednesday.

HAHA that's kind of funny. I posted this right after Dennis's post about muscle up training. Ironic.

David, you are doing great! Luckily we don't have to be physicians and athletes, like you. Keep on your path. You are a machine! Enjoy Germany! I hate you.

Yelling is mandatory :) . I encourage all who finish early or are in the next class to cheer on those who are continuing the fight. That extra push, that extra spirit helps more than you can imagine. Learn their names, yell it loud and when they collapse on the floor, help put their weights up and help peel them off the floor. This ain't knitting class; we finish stronger today because we are stronger than yesterday!

How can you tell a man or woman of true strength and character? To be able to see your own weaknesses or failures and not just keep them to your-self, but have the courage to share them with others. In doing this, you help lift up your fellow man or woman!!

David, you were still going strong and trying even though you did not get those MUs each time...we all have those "off days" where the movement just isn't happening for us. We all know how irritating it can be. Way to push through it. Have a great time in Germany and relax :)

I can always hear you yelling from across the room, it's comforting in a time of pain ;)

These posts are making me tear up... I cannot begin to thank CrossFit Huntsville enough- over the past few months I have regained so much that I had lost. From my CF 101 to today, the pointers, the encouragement, the belief, the support, and the friendships are priceless. I cannot imagine my life without it, and in May when I went to talk to Dennis, I could not imagine my life with it. I was scared, beyond words. I went home after the first 101 class and cried. I wanted to quit and run away and find cheesecake and ice cream. Wes helped talk me off the ledge. And told me there was no crying in crossfit.

My first day after 101, I used the war bar and 5 lb dumb bells, and Casey laughed at me and made me put those away and get something heavier.

I have so far to go, but thanks to the coaches, athletes, and friends I have made, I KNOW that I will get there!!! My 6:00 AM friends have become the biggest source of inspiration.... And it is a testament to the team sport that CrossFit is... I couldn't do this alone. So, when I hit the next milestone (100 pounds lost) I am hoping to celebrate it with my team, a killer WOD, and hopefully some amazing music!

Metallica and Danzig help with the motivation! :) Keep up the awesome work and determination, you rock! (not in a Miley Cyrus or Beiber way, but in a crunchy, thrash metal sorta way :P)

Since we're being all sentimental today....

I'm approaching my 1 year Crossfit birthday (I think my 101 was late October of '12). In one year, I've knocked my body fat from the 20% range way down into the teens, started eating better (not "clean" yet...but WAY better), gotten stronger than ever before and QUIT SMOKING...

It's a testament to the coaches and the other athletes around me that this has stuck (just look at Blue carrying me through Wednesday's WOD). I started the program as a way to rehab a soccer injury and now I can't imagine a week without leaving a pool of sweat or two in the gym.

Maybe this time next year I'll be talking about getting that muscle up! :)

12:32.....I love my gym and I love the people in the classes. I've made some incredible friends over the years and all of them are very special to me! The comradery and coaching are why I've stayed at C'fit HSV for 4 years.
