Had so much fun with a great group from CFHSV this weekend at Pound4Pound! Awesome job to everyone who competed...Tracey, Marisa, Jane, Clair, Karen, Paul, Corrie and John! And a HUGE thank you to our cheering section!! Bryant, Tracy Roberts, Daniel, and Nathaniel :) it was so great to have you there encouraging us! Tracy Roberts and Nathaniel even ran the last mile of "Murphin" with Tracey and I to give us an extra push! (flashbacks to the last time I did Murph when Aaron ran with me!! Well, it was more of a fast walk for him :))
Great job guys!!! Such a fun weekend too!

Pound for Pound competition was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Awesome. The support from the Crossfit Huntsville and Crossfit Impulse members meant the world to me. For all of you who think you cannot go out there and compete...get over it. Just go for it. Like me, you will be surprised that we are better prepared than you think. Cannot wait to compete again.

A great big shout out and congratulations to all CFHSV athletes that competed at pound 4 pound. Wish I could have been there.

Keep up the hard work, continue to work on increasing efficiency of movement, and most of all have fun. I look forward at going to the next competition with you. OkieDB out!

Planning on getting back to training tomorrow. I just finished a 5 day fast/cleanse that I'm hoping will act like a good reset button. Weighed 180# this morning before I ate which comes out to about 15# lost in 5 days/6 nights. It was one of the most mentally challenging things I've done. I wanted to quit more than a few times and trying to stay focused and still get things done was a challenge as well.
It did give me a much better perspective on certain things though. Such as Jesus fasting for 40 days and 40 nights or documented facts about the Holocaust and other food/water deprived events people have gone through. You come out with somewhat of an idea (nothing close to the real thing AT ALL)as to the physical and more importantly mental strain those individuals suffered through.

I wouldn't recommend going 5 days for ANYONE who has a 9-5 job and requires constant thinking. I was able to hold it together for 3 hours or so at a time but anything more than that and it wouldn't have been pretty. I would challenge you guys to just try a 24 hour fast every once in a while. If nothing else it will make you more appreciative of the things we take for granted every day such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I believe the power of fasting as it relates to prayer is the spiritual atomic bomb that our Lord has given us to destroy the strongholds of evil. In the past when I would Fast God always moved in my life. Sometimes not the direction I wanted but the direction that He has for me.

Never have I done a complete no food fast. I have always done a liquid fast or something along that nature. Couldnt imagine a 40 Day Jesus Fast.

I've found that after a day or two of discomfort fasting helps me focus mentally. From an evolutionary perspective it makes sense too. A species would not survive long if they got overly weak and lost mental capacity after a couple days without food (right at the time they need it most to feed themselves).
