Day2 recap:
Day 2 of Regionals started with WOD3 for Teams. The dumbbell snatches were the same weights as they were for individual competitors: 100# for men and 70# for women. While most of the men could handle that weight, most of the women really struggled, and in the end, this WOD definitely came down to the ability of the female competitor.  Quite a few teams were disqualified because their female athlete was unable to complete the minimum number of reps. So bottom line, CFHSV ladies, if we want to be here next year, we need to GET STRONGER!!! WOD3 was super tough for individual competitors as well, but our very own Jake Naumcheff managed to turn in the 5th fastest time of the day! It was awesome!! He heeded Coach Berry's advice, staying
steady on the sprints so he wasn't too taxed and could get right back on the dumbbells each round. He won his heat, and it was truly so much fun to watch! Tracey and I were jumping and screaming like crazy people, while Dennis, although steady with the camera, was coaching Jake through the entire time! The majority of the individual women
struggled with that weight, but a few threw it up overhead like it was nothing and turned in really impressive times. Cheryl Nasso took a long time to complete her first round, and at one point, it looked like she may not complete enough reps to stay in the competition, but she fought through and managed to get a handful of reps into the second round.
WOD4 was BRUTAL. Honestly, it was kind of miserable to watch. The team competition was first, and with the way the WOD was structured, the girls had to
complete all their work before the guys could start. As a result, some of the men only had 5 minutes left before the cut off when they started the first movement. Definitey some impressive performances, and again, the female athletes' performances seemed to dictate the teams' final placement. The individual competitors had it much tougher on this one for sure, and many of them were literally crushed by this WOD. A few, both male and
female, had to quit due to muscle cramps and spasms, and everyone truly looked like they were in pain! It was crazy...we would be sitting there watching a heat go, and all of the sudden, one of the competitors would literally be crawling around on the floor trying to get in a comfortable position. Guido Trinidad led the men with a time of 15:56, and Cheryl Nasso, after struggling with the dumbbell snatches, killed her competition beating
the next closest athlete by over a minute!
All in all, it was definitely an entertaining day filled with amazing performances, impressive scores, and sincere empathy for the athletes having to endure these WODs! Can't wait for tomorrow! It will definitely be interesting to see how the scores in the snatch ladder compare with the standings from 12.2. And then to see the top
individuals and teams tackle that final WOD...entertainment at it's best!! Wish you were all here to cheer Jake on during the final day! It's such an awesome atmosphere and you would be so proud of him for sure!! But we will try to keep you updated throughout the day. :)

It is not death to die
To leave this weary road
And join the saints who dwell on high
Who’ve found their home with God
It is not death to close
The eyes long dimmed by tears
And wake in joy before Your throne
Delivered from our fears

O Jesus, conquering the grave
Your precious blood has power to save
Those who trust in You
Will in Your mercy find
That it is not death to die

It is not death to fling
Aside this earthly dust
And rise with strong and noble wing
To live among the just
It is not death to hear
The key unlock the door
That sets us free from mortal years
To praise You evermore

VOD:
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

So proud of Jake!!!!! What a great weekend and learning experience for all of us. Everyone needs to eat there Wheaties and get strong for next year. Wow! I was amazed at the weights for women. It's heavy and the women not only are athletic but also have spot on technique.
Mandee and I are signed up for Pound for Pound!!!!!!!
