I agree Emily! I wasn't even competing, the back was in a hell of a spasm & I was sitting on a box. I heard the commotion & saw Tommy's effort & FLEW off that box to get over there & yell at him. It was truly inspiring.

I noticed the same thing, total look of either disgust or indifference, hard to tell.

Awesome work Tommy, a 50lb PR is huge.

135-155-165-175-185-195-205(1)

195 is a 60 lb PR from the end of June, and 205 is a 10 lb PR for 1RM. I didn't want to push it with the 205, but felt like I could of done more. Probably did too much regardless with the garage games this weekend though.

That lift was awesome to watch. A 50lb PR is amazing.

On a side note, I don't think I would even try to pick up a bar with 3 bumper plates on one side and 2 on the other.

Don't be fooled by the unimpressed looks from CFI...I was over there taking pictures and their convos did not reflect the impassive expressions! They were impressed with Tommy's PR, but the women especially were impressed with Kerri and Lesha's work on the DL. More than once I heard "They just did 285?? Our women can't do 285!"

Today's WOD:
65-75-85-95-105(x2+1fail)-105(3repPR)-115(x1)

105 was my previous 1RM; got 3 on the second try. Successfully cleaned 115 once, but lost it on the second try. Still, that's a 1RM PR!

Also, props to Tye for inventing "Crossfit Limbo" this morning. ;)

Awesome work on the Clean, Carson! I LOVE seeing those numbers go up and up and up!!!! Yay!

Especially when those numbers include both a new 3RM, AND a new 1RM!!! Good work!

Hope you're planning on resting up a little this week. Are you free during the day tomorrow? May try to mess around with some of the movements if you want to join in.

Speaking of deadlifts. If you haven't watched this yet take a look.

Pay close attention to Russell's movement during the set of 21. Almost robotic, then after finishing the last rep, he calmly adjusts his shades and performs a terminator like right face before launching his cyborg self out the door on a run. Seriously coach, you need to calm down....

I've got a meeting in the afternoon, won't be available from about 1:30 to 3:30. Other than that, I should be able to meet whenever. Wish we had some atlas stones, I have no idea how to address one of those things. Everything else seems doable, depending on weight.

I plan on doing a modified version of whatever comes up tomorrow, resting on Thursday, and then some active rest on Friday. Hopefully that'll have me ready.

I agree. This was a feat of strength AND character. The mentally-weak athlete (read: quitter) would have dropped the weight and not fought gravity for what seemed like 30 seconds. I was happy that this lift was during first WOD....set the tone for the rest of the day. BTW - the bruise on Tommy's left leg is pretty impressive too!

Tommys lift was great. He was jacked! I haven't seen that kind of excitement since the globo gym days... back when throwing Sustanon 250 syringes at each other like darts was not only acceptable, but also expected. War Tommy! :D

Today's WOD:
135-155-165-175-185x-185x-185x

I hate squat cleans! I can power clean 50 lbs. more than I can squat clean... which is completely bassackwards.

Contrary what the picture says, we (CFI) were impressed with Tommy's lift. We are always happy to see fellow CrossFitters PR on anything. However, let's be honest, we were competing against Tommy at the time. I don't know anyone who gets excited about an opposing football scoring a touchdown. Haha. Tommy was scoring a touchdown! Congrats to him!

Also, personally, I was a little nervous for his safety. He was pulling a heavy load, for a long time, without a neutral spine. I was happy to not see one of his vertebrae shoot out into the wall behind him. This is not saying the lift wasn't an impressive lift or that is was a "no lift".

Maybe that explains the expressions on our faces. You all are great athletes and CFI respects that! Like Dennis said "it's all about building the CF community". I think it was a great day for both sides. We had several athletes get PRs as well. Good times.

Did the squat cleans today with my man, Brady. He got up to 165# without breaking a sweat. Managed 135# myself (PR)

From Sunday: temp run in the pre-dawn. The 1600 team WOD of 400m run and rounds of Cindy. Then "Karen" in 7:46. Legs not liking me that night....

Photo of Tommy is an absolute keeper, hope he gets it framed for the pizza shop!

A couple reps at 205 and 225 knocked me on my ass. Which is odd, I generally fail cleans by not getting under them. Still arm pulling but a little less than usual.
