CFHSV Athletes, Coach Dennis Berry will be able to come in on Saturday 30 April 2011 from 10:00am until 12:00pm to run the CrossFit Open WOD 11.6. Due to the tragic tornado events there may not be power nor the standard amenities the gym can provide. Once again this is just a 2 hour window to allow CFHSV athletes a chance to perform WOD 11.6 during this tragic time.

profit margin is what you make before interest and tax revenue...

profit is the diff between the purchase price and the price you pay...

i think...its been awhile since I had any business classes, but i had so many that some things just stick...

A profit foretells the future, and if he builds a fence around his house he has a profit margin? :) Ok, so I'm not a finance guy. My layman's guess is profit is the difference between the price received for something by a seller and the cost of that something to to the seller. Profit margin is some ratio, maybe the ratio of the profit to the sell price (or maybe profit to cost ratio). Be interested to hear the real answer.

11:40 RX'd, PR by 5:08 from Sept. 26, but I did butterfly situps then and anchored today.

The only time I've come closer to puking was at the end of Filthy Fifty, I love chippers.

p.s. Thanks for posting the HSPU negatives video. I've been working on these pretty much every time I step foot in the gym for the past couple of weeks and the video was super informative. ("Take a deep breath and press that sh*t right up." Love it!)

Good to know we can all be clinically diagnosed with an eating disorder now.

I'm probably wrong but...

If CFHSV has 100 members at $200 a month ($20,000), minus cost of operation ($10,000) would be a profit of $10,000. So Profit = $10k

Profit margin would be the total amount of profit divided by the number of members ($10k/100). Profit margin = $100.

Probably wrong. I did take accounting classes in college and I have also stayed in a Holiday Inn Express several times, so...

Also, I'll put this comment here since I didn't post on it the other day. MMA and martial arts in general is a touchy subject with me...

Regarding the "Mental Fight" by Eric Cusson: Eric stated "The only reason that I won that fight was because of CrossFit New England".

The Tomato Can that Eric fought was definitely overwhelmed by the strength and strength endurance presumably obtained through Eric's Crossfit regimen. In that sense Eric's statement is correct... he did win that fight only because of CrossFit New England... it sure as hell wasn't because of his technical ability as a fighter.

Amazing. When I read bs like that I want to hit/break something so bad I can barely stand it. I need to keep an article like that around for before every 1rm attempt I make.

From thier perspective, it's a disorder to care about your health, amazing the path America is headed down.

I hope the problem there is Ms. Cool's interpretation of orthorexia (sp?). At some extreme a diet that's too limited isn't good, but simply limiting or eliminating the ingestion of crap food (albeit often yummy crap food) when one can point to measurable, repeatable benefits of the selective exclusion cannot be a disorder. It is the opposite.

---

I suppose a lot of people need comfort and reassurance that their behavior is "good", and they get that reassurance from labeling anything different as bad.

Pfffffffffft!

Profit is the difference between the cost of a product and the sales price. Profit margin is the difference between the aggregate cost of goods sold and aggregate sales price for that product over a particular time period.

Robert, nope. Can't be diagnosed yet. Still no DSM recognition of these terms, once they get the official nod, your therapist can start billing your insurance company for treatment. The DSM's purpose is diagnostic criteria, so that if I'm talking to a psychiatrist about a patient with depression he knows what I'm talking about without a long diatribe about the patients particular symptoms. It's shorthand. But... third party payers aren't going to pay for treatment of a condition that's not in the "book".
Tye, I seriously doubt you are suffering with Orthorexia. These eating disorders are not about making healthy eating choices based on reason, research and science. They are about disordered thinking and obsessions with the cleanliness/healthiness of foods. Now... if your healthy eating habits are a way of dealing with anxiety, uneasiness, worry, fear and apprehension, you might have a problem. If eating a peanut butter sandwich diminishes your sense of self and causes severe emotional distress... well, you might have a problem.
Yes, some poor souls do suffer with eating disorders. But, it ain't us.

Yeah, I realize I don't have a disorder. That said, to the "normal" person out there, after they read this, how many of them that know of "paleo" do you expect not to say, "wow, so those people have a disorder and that's why they're that way."

For me, I'm trying to change over every loved one I've got, including my Mother who, God bless her, just doesn't get it yet. My plan at present is to buy her "The Paleo Solution" for mother's day, hopefully that can help start the wheel's turning a little more.

Worst case scenario though, she'll read that BS and start talking to me about my "disorder", and all the effort I'll put in to helping her live a healthier fuller life will be for naught.

Profit is a messenger from God. Profit margin is the three-foot personal space bubble around him that may not be breached by his followers because of his magnificence. Right?
Patrick
Patrick says:

April 27, 2011 at 6:38 am

See your point. Everyone seems to get this confused and most articles (like the one above) don't explain the "disorder" part of Eating Disorders. You can live your entire life eating nothing but beans, rice and tofu and never develop an eating disorder. It's when you start using food as a means for dealing with stress, anxiety, fear, self control, etc. that it becomes a disorder. What your eating is really irrelevant.
FWIW, good luck with your mother. But, in my experience unless she is coming to you looking for the advice, listening to what you have to say, actively asking pertinent questions and requesting where to find more information... your wasting your time. Good luck all the same.

Many of the "normal" people already think we're eating an immensely unhealthy diet, and any evidence to the contrary is just because we're the "lucky" ones who won the gene pool lottery, or fortunate enough to have the time and money to spend untold hours in the gym, etc. Now they just have a word to throw at it. We go against what their doctors tell them, what the USDA says, what the American Heart Association says, what the cooking shows say, what food packages say. I'm on the same mission, and it's a huge uphill struggle. Folks need to be really ready for a change to listen. Hope you have better luck than I've had, Tye.

Wow, I now feel even more lucky that I've turned my mom and two sisters paleo!!! Of course, half my battle was already won because my entire life my mom has been preaching about staying away from flour and sugar. I do agree though, if your mom is not truly looking for a change it's going to be difficult to make her understand.
